After the weekend’s celebrations, Manchester United have only a few days to prepare before they’re back in Premier League action.

Erik ten Hag’s side will travel to London for the first of two trips to the capital this week on Wednesday to take on Crystal Palace.

United could be buoyed by the inclusion of new signing Wout Weghorst. The Dutch striker trained with his new teammates for the first time on Sunday following his loan move to Old Trafford from Burnley for the rest of the season.

Should United win again at Selhurst Park then they will actually overtake Manchester City in the table and jump to second place. The Blues aren’t in action until the following day when they take on Tottenham.

United are interested in signing Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans – according to reports – with the Belgium international now into the final months of his deal at the King Power Stadium. He has long-since been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

His contract situation means the player could be available at a cut-price this month.

But are Leicester willing to cash-in? Several outlets him noted him down as a target.

Reports claim United are in talks with Inter Milan over Denzel Dumfries.

Dumfries was a shining light for the Netherlands at the World Cup.

However, it appears as though the 26-year-old has a limited future at the San Siro.

Italian publication Tuttomercato suggest United and Chelsea are hoping to sign the player with £35million mooted as a potential fee. Bayern Munich are also thought to want to Dumfries, but are not right at the front of the queue for his signature.

United are attempting to consolidate ongoing progress under Erik ten Hag by finalising contract renewals. Discussions have already been opened up with David de Gea, who is approaching the final five months of his deal, while Marcus Rashford will be offered an improved terms.

Nine wins on the spin for Erik ten Hag and his squad in all competitions.

Here are the next six Premier League matches they have to contend with;

Wednesday night vs Crystal Palace (A) at 8pm

Sunday, January 22 vs Arsenal (A) at 4.30pm

Saturday, February 4 vs Crystal Palace (H) at 3pm

Sunday, February 12 vs Leeds (A) at 2pm

Sunday, February 19 vs Leicester (H) at 2pm

Sunday, February 26 vs Brentford (H) at 1.30pm

Wout Weghorst joined his new United teammates for his first training session with the Reds on Sunday as the striker was put through his paces.

The Reds take on Crystal Palace on Wednesday before skipping across London to play Arsenal on Sunday. With Anthony Martial yet to complete a 90 minutes this season, Weghorst will hope he is given his first outing over the next few days.

Here are four things we spotted during his first training session:

David Moyes has slammed United over the way he was sacked as manager in 2014 after just 10 months in charge at Old Trafford.

He took charge of just 51 matches, winning 27 times and losing on 15 occasions.

Appearing on the Diary of a CEO podcast, Moyes said:

According to talkSPORT, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Anthony Elanga on loan for the rest of the season.

It is thought that Premier League side Everton are also interested in the Sweden international, who has made just seven starts for Erik ten Hag’s side this season.

Manchester United co-owner Avram Glazer holds a ‘serious interest’ in buying a Women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket franchise.

The American businessman previously tried to purchase an IPL outfit, unsuccessfully.

In November, the Glazers announced United was up for sale with the board “exploring alternative strategies” for the club.

The only travesty about Casemiro’s five months with Manchester United is he is yet to receive a chant. Bastian Schweinsteiger got one. So did Radamel Falcao. Angel di Maria received the obligatory “Ar-gen-ti-na”.

When Casemiro’s name is announced at Old Trafford, the applause is still not quite as reverential as it was for Schweinsteiger or Falcao, two crocks whose impacts can be summarised with a word starting with ‘cr’.

Casemiro has bucked the trend of United’s marquee additions. He has not so much hit the ground running but pounded it, covered it and dominated it.

Speaking on his podcast, Gary Neville hailed the work being done by Erik ten hag at Manchester United after Saturday’s derby win:

United are working towards offering five players new deals.

Discussions with David de Gea are already in progress with the goalkeeper out of contract in the summer, albeit has a one-year extension option if needed.

Four other players who have grown under Erik ten Hag this season are set to be handed fresh deals.

The Daily Mail has obtained an image showing that Marco Rues’ agent – Dirk Hebel – was present at Old Trafford for United’s 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

His 33-year-old Borussia Dortmund client is out of contract in the summer and is reportedly being targeted by Al-Nassr.

Hebel’s clientele includes West Ham centre-back Thilo Kehrer and Hull City winger Ryan Longman.

United are apparently in advanced talks with Inter Milan about right-back Denzel Dumfries, with the Italians asking for £35m.

Tuttomercato claims Chelsea have also touched base but Bayern Munich said to be out of the race.

No offer has yet been made from United but they have learned that Inter are willing to let their Dutch defender leave for the right price.

Anthony Elanga is being targeted by Borussia Dortmund this month.

That’s according to talkSPORT, which claims Bournemouth have also been in touch regarding the winger.

MEN Sport reported last month that Everton were interested in Elanga, who has started just two Premier League games in four-and-a-half months, too.

New signing Wout Weghorst took to the Carrington training pitch for the first time yesterday after being at Old Trafford on Saturday to watch his new club beat rivals Manchester City.

United are reportedly preparing a summer bid for Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

The striker has netted 13 times in 17 matches for the Serie A leaders this season with many top European clubs keeping tabs ahead of potential off-season moves.

Il Mattino claims Arsenal and Newcastle are among the interested parties but that Erik ten hag is already working on a package for the 24-year-old, whose agents apparently wish to facilitate a Premier League switch.

The report adds, though, that the player has told his representatives to hold off talks about his future until June at the earliest with Napoli chasing their first league title since 1990.

Luke Shaw has admitted that the atmosphere at Old Trafford is the best that he can remember since joining the club.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly still keen on a move for Jurrien Timber.

The Sun says that United retain an interest in the 21-year-old defender they wanted to sign last summer.

United have officially confirmed that Wout Weghorst has been allocated the no.27 shirt after completing his loan move to the club.

Memphis Depay sent compatriot Wout Weghorst a message of congratulations on social media.

Raphael Varane believes Erik ten Hag deserves huge credit for his tactical master plan that helped United win the Manchester derby.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is unlikely to feature in many headlines in the wake of Manchester United’s derby day win over Manchester City.

The vast majority of them will be dedicated to United’s huge slice of luck in their controversial equaliser, as well as their excellent comeback. Marcus Rashford’s game-winning goal, Alejandro Garnacho’s fearlessness, Fred’s endless energy, Casemiro’s class, Raphael Varane’s superb performance up against Erling Haaland and those budding hopes of a Premier League title challenge will claim any space still left.

With so many great performances and so much controversy to discuss, it’ll be easy for Wan-Bissaka’s display to go under the radar. But it really shouldn’t.

Manchester United fans have been dishing out praise to Casemiro after his incredible reaction to Marcus Rashford’s winner against Manchester City.

The Reds were held in the first 45 by City who had the lion’s share of possession but no real clear-cut opportunities to speak of. Bruno Fernandes went closest for United but his effort was dragged wide of Ederson’s far post.

Pep Guardiola’s team came out for the second half in a better mindset and took the lead on the hour mark when substitute Jack Grealish nodded the ball home from close range. United needed to dig deep and 18 minutes later they were level.

Wout Weghorst’s new shirt number at Manchester United has seemingly been revealed ahead of its official confirmation.

After seeing their initial offer turned down, United finally managed to secure Weghorst on loan for the rest of the season on Friday. Though the Dutchman has joined from Burnley, he was actually on loan at Besiktas and as the Clarets didn’t have a recall clause a deal had to be struck with the Turkish outfit to allow his stay in Instanbul to be cut short.

Weghorst has enjoyed a good season so far with nine goals in 18 games and made a significant impact in the World Cup as he scored twice to drag the Netherlands level late on in a thrilling quarter-final with eventual winners Argentina.
