The Premier League club have held informal discussions with the 22-year-old about a move, but no offer has yet been submitted to Ajax

Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Antony, with the Brazil winger determined to be reunited with Erik ten Hag.

Man Utd have held informal discussions over the 22-year-old but have not yet made an offer to Ajax.

Ten Hag wants to add to an attack that has lost Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard this summer, while Mason Greenwood continues to be unavailable. Antony has made it clear he wants to join his former manager at Old Trafford.

The forward has a strong relationship with Ten Hag after the pair worked together at Ajax, winning two Eredivisie titles and the Dutch cup.

The new manager remains a big admirer of Antony and identified him as a target during a transfer summit with football director John Murtough in Amsterdam last month.

Darwin Nunez was another target discussed, but Man Utd pulled out of a move for the Uruguayan who has signed for Liverpool in a deal that could be worth £85 million.

While Man Utd sources insist they did not want to get involved in a bidding war with their fierce rival, it is also understood Nunez had his heart set on Anfield.

Antony’s preference this summer is a move to Man Utd, who have also had to convince Frenkie de Jong that he should swap Barcelona for Manchester.

Who else could Manchester United buy?

Ten Hag wants five new signings in his first transfer window at the club – with midfield his priority. De Jong is the leading target, with Christian Eriksen also wanted.

Attack is the next position Ten Hag wants to address, with Antony high up on his wanted list, while he is also an admirer of RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries has been identified as a potential right back, while attentions are now turning to Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez, with club-mate Jurrien Timber appearing to rule out a move.

They are in the hunt for Derby starlet Malcolm Ebiowei, while Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann could replace Dean Henderson, who is set to join Nottingham Forest on loan.

Club sources say the groundwork has now been done on a number of targets, with deals expected to be concluded soon.

Manchester United have so far failed to make any additions to their squad this summer.

Frustration within the fanbase is growing with each passing day. Erik ten Hag has been prioritising a move for a midfielder but, due to Dean Henderson’s impending move to Nottingham Forest on loan, the Dutchman may have to look for a second-choice goalkeeper first and foremost.

MEN Sport understand Watford’s Daniel Bachmann will be United’s top target to replace Henderson this summer. The Hornets shot-stopper is likely to welcome a move to Old Trafford following Watford’s relegation from the Premier League last season.

Elsewhere, United’s pursuit of Christian Eriksen rumbles on. Ten Hag is still interested in signing the Dane in this transfer window but will face competition.

Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford are both hoping to secure the playmaker’s signature this summer.

We’ll bring you all the day’s Man United news right here!

Antony is ‘determined’ to be reunited with Erik ten Hag, according to Goal.

The article claims United have held informal discussions with Antony – the Brazilian plays on the right-wing – about a move to Old Trafford this summer, but that no offer has yet been submitted to Ajax.

Ten Hag wants to add to an attack that has lost Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard, while Mason Greenwood continues to be unavailable. Antony has ‘made it clear’ that he wants to join his former manager.

Manchester United are interested in signing Christian Eriksen on a free transfer this summer. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest at last summer’s European Championship and he departed Inter Milan following that incident.

The player made his comeback to football in January earlier this year when joining Brentford on a six-month loan deal. After contributing one goal and four assists in 11 appearances for Brentford, Eriksen is now available on a free transfer and Thomas Frank’s side would like to permanently sign the midfielder, but they’re facing competition from United for his signature.

The Manchester Evening News understands Erik ten Hag wants to bring Frenkie de Jong and Eriksen to reshape United’s midfield this summer, although it’s thought the latter could be persuaded to sign for Brentford, as his family have been settled in London.

Manchester United are set to make a move for Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann once Dean Henderson completes his loan move to Nottingham Forest.

Henderson has been keen to pursue more first-team opportunities after appearing in just three cup games last season and Forest have been in the market for a goalkeeper with their No. 1 Brice Samba set to leave.

The deal to take Henderson to the City Ground is close to being completed but it will be a straight loan with no option to buy included. It is understood United never considered a deal that would mean Henderson could have left on a permanent transfer in 12 months’ time.

The start of pre-season is almost upon us and that can only mean one thing – the summer transfer window is well and truly in full swing. All around the country the elite teams are beginning to make their moves as they look to strengthen their squads and dispose of some of their deadwood ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Arsenal have been one of the busier sides of late, securing deals to sign Brazilian youngster Marquinhos from Sao Paolo and Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira from Porto. They are not likely to stop there, however, and reports late on Tuesday night suggested they had made a first formal bid for Leeds star Raphinha. Watch this space.

Manchester United have not been quite so active, and are yet to bring in their first major signing, much to the frustration of their weary fans. A whole host of current and former Ajax players are being tipped to join and link back up with Erik ten Hag – Antony and Frenkie de Jong among them – but United need to get a move on if they don’t want to get left behind.

Chelsea could well bid farewell to Romelu Lukaku on Wednesday, with Inter Milan apparently agreeing a loan deal to re-sign their former striker and bring his Stamford Bridge hell to an end. And across London Tottenham may well do some more business in the near future, with the signings of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma already in the bag.

And with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle also expected to splash more cash before the end of the window, it’s fair to say there is plenty going on to keep an eye out for.

Roberto Firmino has been backed to follow Sadio Mane out of the Anfield exit door within the next 12 months.

Former Liverpool winger Steward Downing believes that if Firmino continues in the bit-part role he played at the end of last season, he could depart as earlier as January.

He said: “I hope Darwin Nunez hits the ground running, but I see Firmino being a backup player to him. If they can get Firmino back to the form he was at a couple of seasons ago, it’s another great dimension for Liverpool but it will probably be his last year, or he might do until January.”

Neymar’s Paris Saint-Germain contract will be automatically extended until the summer of 2027 on July 1, according to L’Equipe.

The 30-year-old winger has been linked with an exit this summer, but PSG would have to pay him the equivalent of the final five years of his contract if they want him to leave – equating to £112m (€130m).

One of Neymar’s relatives have described him as “motivated by the new PSG project.” He doesn’t want to leave the Parc des Princes, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to once this clause is triggered.

Arsenal could complete the signing of Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus ‘in hours’, Fabrizio Romano claims.

He told wettfreunde: “I’m sure that Arsenal are absolutely leading the race [for Gabriel Jesus]. Arsenal are in really advanced talks. So they have the chance to complete this deal.

“If they want, it could be a matter of hours or days to complete this deal. They are in the final stages, but it is really important to complete these key details that sometimes could create some problems.”

Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has rejected the chance to join Newcastle United this summer.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Rabiot isn’t ready to surrender Champions League football and only wants to join a club in Europe’s elite competition.

The 27-year-old has also been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United after reportedly asking to leave Juventus as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

Taiwo Awoniyi is set to undergo a medical at Nottingham Forest ahead of his club-record £17.5m transfer from Union Berlin.

Express Sport understands two other Premier League clubs also recently enquired about his release clause, but his will soon arrive at the City Ground.

Liverpool will receive £1.75m due to a 10 per cent sell-on clause negotiated by Michael Edwards ahead of his move to Germany.

Derby County starlet Malcolm Ebiowei has decided to join Crystal Palace this summer, snubbing strong interest from Manchester United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the exciting 18-year-old is set to complete a move to Palace after he undergoes his medical this week.

Ebiowei will sign a five-year contract at Selhurst Park… as United’s frustrations in the summer transfer market continue.
