Arsenal transfer news as Chelsea midfield Mason Mount has received criticism for his quality in midfield ahead of the summer transfer window

Mason Mount will bring nothing to Arsenal or Liverpool, according to talkSPORT expert Gabby Agbonlahor. The Chelsea star will leave the club in the summer after his contract expires next year.
The Gunners have been one of the teams said to be interested in the England international, with his contract situation at Stamford Bridge likely to drop the price drastically. Manchester United and Liverpool have both also been linked.
Mount has not been as regular as in previous years this season, with injury and form preventing him from producing some form of consistency. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is understood to have held talks with Mount about possibly staying at his boyhood club, although no breakthrough has yet been made.
Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his midfield options ahead of next season, with Mount emerging as a possible candidate alongside West Ham captain Declan Rice and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. football.london understands that the Gunners are prioritizing a move for Rice, but his £100m+ price tag may be too high.
Mount‘s services are expected to be highly contested throughout the summer with his versatility to play in midfield and out wide. However, the 24-year-old’s quality has been called into question by Agbonlahor, with the former Aston Villa man insisting he is “nothing special”.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “He’s scored 27 goals in 129 appearances, it’s not fantastic, to be honest. The stats show that he’s not [a great player]. He’s an okay player but he’s not performing great.
“Mason Mount is an attacking midfielder, he should be scoring goals. He has brought nothing. Odegaard scored 14 goals in one season.”
