ky Sports News has been told Everton want £30m for Digne, one of Rafael Benitez’s players who joined from Barcelona in 2018.

Deeney quit Everton after a widespread feud with Benitez over tactics and handling last week, and their manager confirmed the defender had informed the club of his desire to leave.

“It was very clear,” Benitez said. “I want to put a question to every fan and former players – what would Peter Reid do if a player went out and said he didn’t want to be there?

“That’s it – simple. I had a couple of conversations with him and he told me what he thinks, what do you expect the manager to do when a player is considering leaving?”

Everton have already signed Ukraine international Vitaly Mikolenko as a replacement for Dinny.

The Toffees also acquired Rangers and Scottish right-back Nathan Patterson in a £16m deal earlier in the January window.

So far this season, Deeney has played 15 games and scored once for Everton, who are 15th in the standings, before their away game at Norwich on Saturday.

Would Digne be a good fit for the Via?
Analysis from Peter Smith of Sky Sports…

What will the France international bring to Steven Gerrard’s squad?

Denny’s fallout has clouded Rafael Benitez in what appears to be his final weeks with the club, but over the past three and a half seasons he has been a key player at Everton.

Since joining in 2018, he has scored more passes than any other player at Everton and led the way for his team in the assists and chances he created last season.

Everton have signed 22-year-old Vitaly Mikolenko as a substitute and while the Ukraine international has Champions League experience and played in the European Championship last summer, it is clear that he cannot match the quality and experience of Deni at the moment.

After all, Deeney has played more than 40 caps for France and won title wins with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, his creative stats will be exciting for Aston Villa supporters. At 28, Digne was at the height of his activity and at a level where his attacking skills are ranked among the best by the Premier League’s full-backs.
