It’s Friday again and that means Ralf Rangnick will today sit down in front of the media to preview Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

United beat the Villans 1-0 on Monday’s Emirates FA Cup tie but tomorrow’s clash will see us travel to Villa Park in the Premier League.

We have a formidable record at the Midlands ground, having not lost a top-flight game there in 27 years, although the home side will be boosted having added Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne to their squad this week.

Manchester United have stepped up their preparations ahead of Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Ralf Rangnick oversee training on Thursday, which saw injury doubts Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire feature, along with the likes of Phil Jones and Jadon Sancho who will also be pushing for a recall.

Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay for the match are both suspended, meaning Alex Telles – fresh from a Brazil call-up – and Donny van de Beek may feature.

On the transfer front, Van de Beek has been offered on loan to Newcastle but any incoming are unlikely. United sources are expecting a quiet January transfer window.

A move for Denis Zakaria, who is out of contract in the summer, has been ruled out, while Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey has been linked with a £40million exit.

Naturally, van de Beek was one of the players spoken about at Carrington this afternoon.

Here is what Ralf Rangnick had to say about the midfielder and speculation over his future;

Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund have been sounded out about a potential loan move for United midfielder Donny van de Beek during the January transfer window.

Van de Beek continues to struggle for game-time at United and has lost his place in the Netherlands squad as a result, leaving his future at the club in doubt.

The 24-year-old has started just four Premier League games since his £35million move from Ajax in September 2020, all of them last season, and he’s struggled to make an impact under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick this campaign.

Everton came close to signing van de Beek on loan towards the end of the summer transfer window, but stayed put at United and was expected to play a more prominent role.

Ralf Rangnick is set to speak with the media during his latest press conference.

Aston Villa are next up for United in a Premier League game at Villa Park.

It was a wide-ranging interview from Ronaldo when speaking to Sky Sports.

Here is what the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said about the current top-three;

Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to Luke Shaw after he shared concerns over mentality in the United dressing room.

After stepping into the breach to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – initially until the end of this season – Ralf Rangnick saw his unbeaten start ended by Wolves on January 3.

Joao Moutinho settled the scores on that occasion as Ronaldo captained the team and, after the match, Shaw delivered an honest and open verdict on current issues at Old Trafford.

Indeed, the England international indicated there was some division in the United camp and his revelation has since been followed by suggestions that several players are ‘unhappy’ at the club – while Ronaldo seemingly agrees with one key point made by the defender.

Patrice Evra does not think Paul Pogba will sign a new contract at Manchester United.

Pogba, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and will leave the club on a free transfer unless he agrees to a new deal before then.

Wayne Rooney does not expect to secure a deal to bring Amad to Derby County on loan.

Former United winger Nani is set for a return to European football, according to a report.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Portuguese forward is close to joining Italian side Venezia from Orlando City in the MLS.

United could strengthen their midfield with the signing of Fabian Ruiz this month, according to reports.

La Republica state United are in a good position to sign the 25-year-old Napoli central midfielder.

Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund have been sounded out about a potential loan move for Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek during the January transfer window.

Van de Beek is continuing to struggle for game time at United and has lost his place in the Holland squad as a result, leaving his future at the club in doubt.

With his game time not improving since the summer, Van de Beek is open to leaving United this month and Bundesliga giants Dortmund and the newly-minted Newcastle have both been spoken to about their interest in a short-term switch.

Any move would require United’s blessing, however, and with Rangnick uncertain about his midfield options at the moment that is unlikely to happen.

Ralf Rangnick will be keeping his fingers crossed for some injury returns this weekend as Manchester United head to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Having knocked Steven Gerrard’s side out of the FA Cup on Monday, United will head to Villa Park on Saturday in the league as they look to get their top four aspirations back on track.

Whether they’ll be at full strength for the trip is another matter though, after some big names were forced to sit out of Monday’s 1-0 victory.

Harry Maguire and Phil Jones both missed out as Victor Lindelof returned for his first game in a month, while Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo were also sidelined and played no part in the game.

Reports have been circulating that Manchester United have a ‘strong interest’ in Brighton and Hove Albion full back Tariq Lamptey.

The Mail has suggested that there is some interest from the Red Devils and it is easy to see why following the 21-year-old’s impressive spell on the South Coast.

Lamptey has already shown he has the right attitude to help Manchester United succeed.

Wayne Rooney has put serious doubt over a potential move on loan to Derby County for Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo.

United’s all-time leading scorer has been working hard to try and secure the teenager for the remainder of the season but, speaking today, he appears to have ruled out the move.

Alex Telles has earned a recall for Brazil’s upcoming World Cupt qualifiers later this month.

The defender will be aiming to make his first appearance for his national side since 2020 as they take on Ecuador on January 27, and Paraguay on February 2.

He’s joined in the squad by United team-mate Fred. Brazil have already secured their qualification for this year’s World Cup in Qatar, and will be aiming to end their campaing on a high.

Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has denied receiving any offers from Manchester United for Denis Zakaria.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford as he enters the final six months of his deal in Germany, having refused to sign a new deal.

Eberl though has been quoted as saying by German outlet Spox that there are no offers at the moment, despite United and Arsenal’s reported interest.

We have a formidable record at the Midlands ground, having not lost a top-flight game there in 27 years, although the home side will be boosted having added Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne to their squad this week.

John McGinn, who was an impressive presence in the Villa midfield at Old Trafford, is suspended, as are United pair Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay.

Fortunately, it sounds as though Cristiano Ronaldo is raring to be involved after the 36-year-old missed the cup win.

Fellow injury absentees Phil Jones, Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho were also spotted in our training pictures from Carrington on Thursday.

Hopefully Ralf will reveal all about the status of his squad when he holds his pre-match press conference at 13:00 GMT later today.

As usual, the Manager’s Press Conference show will broadcast the call in full, along with analysis from a presenter and pundit in the MUTV studio.

You’ll also be able to watch the stream on ManUtd.com and in our Official App.

The Reds are seventh in the Premier League table, six points behind fourth-placed West Ham after they beat Norwich 2-0 on Wednesday evening.

Villa are 14th, nine points adrift of United, but league positions could change with a Friday night game between Brighton and Crystal Palace, plus five earlier Saturday games, taking place before the 17:30 GMT kick-off at Villa Park on Saturday.

Ralf Rangnick has provided a bulletin on the Manchester United squad ahead of Saturday’s teatime kick-off at Aston Villa.

The interim manager has welcomed Harry Maguire, Phil Jones, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo back in training this week after they were absent for the Emirates FA Cup third-round victory over the Villans on Monday night.

However, Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are both unavailable for Villa Park due to the one-match suspensions they must serve for racking up five yellow cards in the Premier League.

Paul Pogba is still ruled out, due to the injury he sustained while on international duty with France last year.

“I think they will be available,” Rangnick told a press conference, when asked for the team news regarding Maguire, Ronaldo and Sancho in particular.

“They only trained yesterday for the first time. Cristiano yesterday, Harry the day before yesterday. We have to wait for the final session this afternoon but as it seems right now they should be available for tomorrow [Saturday].”

Steven Gerrard has been busy in the transfer market, signing Philippe Coutinho, on loan from Barcelona, and Lucas Digne, from Everton. Anwar El Ghazi has moved in the opposite direction, to Goodison Park.

Trezeguet and Bertrand Traore are on Africa Cup of Nations duty, while John McGinn is out through suspension.

Ashley Young is a doubt and both Leon Bailey and Marvelous Nakamba are still on the sidelines.
