PAK vs NZ 1st ODI Live: 1st ODI in jeopardy: Pakistan and New Zealand will tussle in a limited-overs series which begins with three ODIs starting with the one in Rawalpindi on Thursday. The series marks the first time in 18 years that New Zealand will tour the Asian country and Pakistan will have their spirits high especially with an entire squad at their disposal. With the T20 World Cup coming, it will be especially an opportunity to iron out kinks.
Pakistan have their full strength squad at its disposal as they look to get into the groove for the T20 World Cup. The PCB announced their 12-man team for the first ODI at Rawalpindi, and only three spots in the Pakistan playing XI remain in contention. Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman are nailed on as openers, while Babar Azam has been a staple source of runs at No.3. Keeper Mohammad Rizwan will add further steel to their line-up, while fast bowling trio Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali pick themselves.
@14:28: The first ODI is in jeopardy after players were instructed to remain at their hotel rooms.
So we obviously have at least a significant delay – at worst – the whole thing’s in jeopardy. The players have been told to stay in their rooms, fans aren’t being allowed in, and the camera crew are milling about idly.

PAK vs NZ 1st ODI Live: Saud Shakeel should remain in contention after he scored a brilliant half-century at Lord’s. While he did fail on either side of the 50, he could slot in at No.4 with Rizwan to follow. Vice-captain Shadab Khan is nailed at No.7, leaving room for two slots before and after him, with Usman Qadir, Iftikhar Ahmed and Zahid Mahmood in contention. Iftikar Ahmed is likely to slot in at six, given his recent exploits in the domestic circuit, while Usman Qadir is likely to pip Mahmood for the second spinner’s slot.

PAK vs NZ 1st ODI: pitch report
As witnessed during the Zimbabwe tour of Pakistan, the track at Rawalpindi offers assistance to the spinners, but variable bounce could also bring the pacers into play. Scores in the region of 270/280 are common ground, and teams batting first are likely to chase with dew being a considerable factor.
PAK vs NZ: weather forecast
The conditions are likely to be sunny and humid, with temperatures ranging from a low 24 to a high 32 degrees celsius. There is expected to be some cloud cover, but rainfall is not expected to play spoilsport, meaning a full match is on the cards.
