Bayer Leverkusen CEO speaks out on Patrick Schick future amid Arsenal and Newcastle interest

Patrick Schick is thought to be a man that several clubs will be sniffing around this summer. The Czech Republic forward has netted 20 goals in 20 Bundesliga games this season for Bayern Leverkusen, ahead of young prodigy Erling Haaland and behind only Polish marksman Robert Lewandowski, who stands well clear with 31 goals in the German top flight.

The Leverkusen forward, who is under contract until 2025 in Germany, has seemingly now found his feet following underwhelming spells at AS Roma and RB Leipzig, and the form he found this season has led to speculation about his future, with Newcastle and Arsenal just two of the sides having been linked with the 25-year-old.

Speaking to the Independent earlier in the year, Schick insisted he was happy at Leverkusen but warned that they would have to ‘wait and see’ about his summer plans.

‘I’ve changed clubs a lot [six in six years] so I never had time to feel settled. I’m really happy in Leverkusen and with my life in Germany so at this moment I’m not thinking about being transferred somewhere.’

‘I watch the Premier League and I like England but that doesn’t mean that if I continue like this I’ll play there.’

Now, it seems clear that Schick is going nowhere this summer, if the CEO of Bayer Leverkusen is to be believed.

Speaking to Sky Germany [via Bulinews], he warned that the club are planning next season very much with Schick in mind.

‘No, we will not sell Patrik Schick. There is no need to talk about that at all’, he told the media.

‘We are very happy that he is with us, and we firmly count on him for the next few years.’

Whether a hefty bid could force that seemingly closed door back open is another matter, but as things stand, he seems to be staying at Leverkusen.
