
Bayern Munich hold the option to buy João Cancelo for a huge fee as part of Manchester City’s loan deal.

Bayern Munich reportedly had the option to buy Manchester City star João Cancelo for a fee of €70m at the end of his loan deal.
The Portuguese is currently on his way to Munich to complete his surprise move to the Bavarians on loan until the end of the season. The full-back has fallen out with Pep Guardiola and has seen his playing time diminish at Etihad in recent times.
Cancelo communicated to Guardiola his intention to leave the club. Bayern Munich is a longtime admirer of the player. Thus, they decided to take advantage of the opportunity to hire the Portuguese.
According to the Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan, the Bavarians also have the option of making the deal permanent by paying a €70m fee.

Cancelo has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world in recent times. He has made 26 appearances for Cityzens so far this season, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
The former Juventus and Valencia player, however, has not had regular playing time since the season restarted after the 2022 FIFA World Cup break. Rico Lewis and Nathan Ake were Guardiola’s favorites for the vacancies defender.
After being dropped from the team, Cancelo decided to move on to a new chapter in his career. Cancelo has made 154 appearances for Cityzens since joining the club in 2019, scoring nine goals and providing 22 assists.
João Cancelo could solve Bayern Munich’s problems at right-back
João Cancelo is by far one of the best full-backs in the world at the moment. His versatility allows him to operate on both flanks. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have been scouting the market for a long-term solution to their right-back woes.
Benjamin Pavard’s passage through the club became quite controversial. The French international looks set to leave the club in the summer, with Barcelona rumored to be interested in acquiring his services.
The Bundesliga giants also siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigned Noussair Mazroui from Ajax in the summer, but the Moroccan international has yet to cement his place in the squad.
Bringing in a player of Cancelo’s caliber would certainly solve the problem for the Bavarians. The player arrives with the experience of playing in La Liga, in Serie A and also in the Premier League.
