Newcastle instructed to accept Gallagher punt
Newcastle United have been urged to sign Conor Gallagher this month, with the midfielder struggling at Chelsea. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a departure from west London recently amid a string of unconvincing displays.
And former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan believes Eddie Howe’s side should strike a deal. Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Chelsea will have to get rid of players for next to nothing because they seem to be spending and spending at the moment.
“I think Newcastle are the only Premier League team that can attract these players – Gallagher, I can say now, is the only one, for me. He attracts more than the other two because of his age and what he’s done at the Crystal Palace.”
Another club is said to have entered the race to sign Hakim Ziyech as the Chelsea striker continues to generate interest. The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a departure from Stamford Bridge for some time now, but the arrival of Noni Madueke could be the final nail in the coffin.
According to Italian newspaper Gianluca di Marzio, AS Roma have contacted Ziyech’s entourage about a possible move this month. The report claims that Jose Mourinho’s side are preparing for the likely departure of Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo.
However, a move to Ziyech could prove difficult to complete, with the Moroccan currently earning €6m a year (£5.2m) in West London.
Chelsea have received the clearest indication that a move for Jude Bellingham will be possible over the summer. The 19-year-old is set to be at the center of one of the biggest transfer battles in recent history, with Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid all eager to sign the England international.
According to the Daily Star, Bellingham is expeeeeeeeeected to turn down a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund. He currently sees his contract at Signal Iduna Park expire in two and a half years.
The report claims that the German team is offering the teen sensation double her current salary in a package of up to £180,000 a week. Dortmund have accepted that keeping Bellingham will be difficult, giving the likes of Chelsea a huge boost in their quests to sign him.
