Dolphins sign Melbourne Storm’s Jesse Bromwich

NRL

The Dolphins have landed their second major name as they continue to build for their inaugural 2023 NRL season, securing gun Storm front-rower Jesse Bromwich.

A club statement released this afternoon confirmed the Dolphins had signed Storm co-captain Bromwich on a two-year deal.

The attainment of the 32-year-old follows the signing of Melbourne teammate Felise Kaufusi in November, who became the first marquee player to land at the NRL’s newest club.

The Dolphins’ statement on Bromwich labelled the signing “a huge recruitment coup” and chief executive Terry Reader applauded the move.

“In building a squad from scratch, we have always been focused on ensuring we add some real experience to the group we will assemble for the 2023 NRL season,” Reader said.

“Jesse will bring a host of good qualities to the Dolphins’ inaugural roster, not the least of which will be his exposure at the highest levels of rugby league.

“He has been one of the shining lights of the strong Storm system for the last decade so will bring a tremendous level of professionalism with him.

“Jesse has been a part of three NRL grand final victories and has played 29 Tests for New Zealand, so we know he is a winner.

“He comes from a club that has always been big on creating standards, and this will be a new and exciting opportunity for Jesse to create and set a standard for future Dolphins players.”

Bromwich has played 272 NRL games since making his debut in the opening round of the 2010 season.

He was crowned Dally M Prop of the Year in 2016.

Bromwich will arrive at the Dolphins’ Redcliffe base when the 2023 pre-season begins in November.
