It’s only Tuesday but we’ve already had quite frankly a bizarre week already. As you may have been aware, the Champions League took place in Nyon yesterday and it certainly wasn’t without its taking points.
The Blues drew French champions Lille in what was the kindest possible draw for Thomas Tuchel’s men. However, the draw was then declared void by UEFA, leading to a redraw. It worked out in the end though as Chelsea were again matched up with Lille. We will be bringing you more reaction throughout the day.
Meanwhile, it’s now only just over two days until the Blues are back in action as Everton travel to Stamford Bridge. Stick around for all of the early team news from the Chelsea camp.
Finally, there’s already plenty going on transfer-wise, with Antonio Rudiger ‘s future taking more twists and turns than the Blues’ recent performances. As usual, we will be bringing you all of the latest talk and rumours.
With that being said, ensure you keep the blog locked throughout the day so that you don’t miss a single development.
More on Ben Chilwell’s return
As per the reliable Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com, both N’Golo Kante and Trevoh Chalobah have returned to training after spells on the sidelines, both of which will come as massive boosts to the Blues faithful. Kinsella revealed:
Kante and Chalobah returned to training today, having been in yesterday doing physical work when most of the squad were off.
Better yet, there has been an update on the condition of Ben Chilwell, previously thought to be out for the season after sustaining an ACL injury last month. However, the injury was not as severe as first thought, and the same source reveals that.
“Chilwell has also stepped up his recovery and done some light fitness work on grass. This is ahead of a targeted return in early to mid-January”
Chelsea, Man Utd and Spurs fans mock Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Arsenal captaincy decision
Chelsea, Spurs and Man United fans have mocked Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he was stripped of the captaincy by Arsenal as the curse lives on.
Aubameyang, 32, was expelled from the first team squad for the Premier League clash against the Saints as Mikel Arteta explained before the clash against the east Londoners.
ChalobahSzn went into depth of his analysis on the situation: ‘Arsenal genuinely don’t have good captain after Vieira man. Fabregas were forcing move to Barca and years later he ended up in Chelsea. Koscielny with that phenomenal shirt changing video. Xhaka well yeah he is Xhaka and Aubameyang is sweg sweg merchant.’
The Belgian is ‘open’ alongside Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich to make his return to west London a reality in the upcoming transfer windows.
The frustrations have now boiled over at Real Madrid, with the club and the player ready to end their association as early as the January transfer window. And despite his struggles, there is no shortage of suitors vying for Hazard’s signature, with reigning European champions among the clubs keen on signing him.
With Barcelona keen on the trio of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic, could the 30-year-old injury prone winger comeback to replace one of the aforementioned trio?
Thiago Silva’s contract may be set to expire at the end of the season but the Brazilian still has ambitions he wants achieve with the Blues.
The 37-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge in August 2020, and has proved a valuable cog in the Chelsea defence despite his age.
Silva has started the majority of the Londoners’ Premier League and Champions League matches this season, and has shown few signs of slowing down in the centre of Thomas Tuchel’s back three.
The former PSG star has even linked his future ambitions with the reason he is currently at Chelsea.

James Milner took to social media to give his thoughts on the news that Liverpool are set to face Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Our No.7 would have had to wait, like the rest of us, as UEFA made a huge mistake that caused a second draw to be completed and our first knockout round opponents changed from RB Salzburg to the Nerazzurri.
It was a redraw that certainly didn’t work in our favour as most supporters would have preferred to have been travelling to Austria, than a return to the San Siro in February.
The 35-year-old posted on his Instagram story to share his thoughts on the European draw, he wrote: ‘Tough draw, but looking forward to another trip to the San Siro‘.
The Leeds-born midfielder will be relishing the chance to return to the iconic stadium, much like his manager, and so there certainly are positive to be taken.
Having beaten their stadium-sharing local rivals, we shouldn’t fear either side in Milan and will be hopeful of progressing to the quarter-finals in March.

But they cannot afford to pay the £8.5m fee in January.

Alexandre Lacazette and Granit Xhaka are joint-favourites for the Arsenal captaincy, according to bookmakers Betfair.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will soon decide who should replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was stripped of the captaincy following a disciplinary breach.
Bookies Betfair have revealed their top five candidates for the role with Lacazette and Xhaka sharing odds of 6/4.
Striker Lacazette has taken the armband on several occasions down the years but might only provide a good short-term solution given this contract expires in June.
Xhaka could be viewed as a risky appointment given he’s already been stripped of the honour.
Kieran Tierney is next in the betting at 4/1 but there are concerns over his injury record and starting role.
Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who only joined the club in August, is available at 8/1 with centre-back Gabriel the outsider of the pack at 16s.

“It needs a bit of time to heal. For now he’s not involved in the squad.”
Tottenham are reportedly leading the race to sign Napoli hot-shot Lorenzo Insigne.
Spurs are said to be wasting no time in their pursuit of the 30-year-old and plan to make a move for him in January when the transfer window re-opens, according to Sports Witness.
They had initially been linked with a move for Insigne in the summer but the switch failed to materialise.
Insigne’s contract with the Serie A side is up next summer meaning he can begin discussions with potential new suitors in the New Year.
SW report that journalist Fabio Santini claims Spurs boss Antonio Conte is in awe of the striker whose netted five goals in 18 games for Napoli this summer.
And the eager Italian wants to bring Insigne to White Hart Lane in January in a bid to salvage the North London club’s fledging season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as become the latest Arsenal captain to be stripped of the role after another disciplinary breach.
The forward is by no means the first Gunners skipper to enrage supporters and bosses, however.
In fact, a long line of Arsenal captains have had their issues, since Arsene Wenger appointed William Gallas in 2007.
Piers Morgan has blasted Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for a ‘shameful decision’ to strip Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the captaincy.
And the TV star has slammed the ‘disgusting treatment’ handed out by the Gunners to the striker.
The forward was dropped for Saturday’s 3-0 win over Southampton after arriving back late from an authorised trip to France.
Now the 32-year-old has been handed the ultimate punishment of LOSING the captain’s armband.
And it has not gone down too well with renowned Gunners fan Morgan.
He tweeted: “Shameful decision by Arteta. What a disgusting way to treat a man who went – with the club’s full knowledge & permission – to help his sick mother.”
