MEN Sport revealed on Friday that Manchester United had altered their plans in the transfer window due to the ongoing situation regarding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future. With the need for a striker potentially need, it is understood that Ten Hag has contacted Brobbey over a potential switch.
Brobbey spent the second half of last season on loan at Ajax after failing to settle at RB Leipzig. The 20-year-old scored an impressive seven goals in 11 Eredivisie appearances under the leadership of Ten Hag.
Elsewhere, 31 of the players currently available to Ten Hag have arrived in Thailand for the start of their pre-season tour. There is, of course, one notable absentee.

Manchester United have been urged to sell Cristiano Ronaldo for the good of the club this summer.

Manchester United expect Dutch forward Brian Brobbey to sign for Ajax.
Brobbey, 20, has emerged as the latest Dutch-affiliated player new United manager Erik ten Hag has targeted amid doubts over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

David Moyes has confirmed no bids have been submitted for West Ham captain Declan Rice this summer, despite Manchester United previously registering an interest in the player.
Having missed out on a central midfield signing last summer, key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom earmarked Rice as their priority target heading into this window.
However, when Erik ten Hag was appointed, the club turned their attention to Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong.

As part of his preparations, Ten Hag sanctioned a move for Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia and, as things stand, he remains the only signing made so far this summer.

Reliable goalscorers are the hardest thing to find and, as United have just discovered, they are also (quite rightly) the most difficult ones to please. But where will Cristiano Ronaldo be playing next season?
While he attends to a family issue, speculation over the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and his United future also continues to mount. He did not board the plane for Bangkok and – amid reported interest from fellow Premier League side Chelsea – there is a chance he might not pull on that red shirt again.
As underlined by their potentially calamitous kit launch, Ronaldo is still the poster boy at Old Trafford (for now) yet his proposed departure might need to be addressed by some quick-thinking in the boardroom as well as in United’s commercial department. That is where Rio Ferdinand comes into the equation.
Brentford are still hoping to re-sign Christian Eriksen this summer.
He spent last season with the Bees after being released by Inter Milan.
However, a move to Old Trafford appears to be on the cards.
Eriksen, 30, has verbally agreed to sign for United this summer, while Brentford manager Thomas Frank has not completely given up on the Denmark playmaker heading back to London, either.
Youri Tielemans is not convinced on a move to United – according to reports.
Speculation over the Belgium player and his future continues to mount this summer.
Tielemans, 26, only has 12 months left to run on his Leicester contract.
Arsenal remain front-runners for his signature and United have been mooted as another potential suitor. However, as per reports from CBS Sports, the player himself would prefer a move to north London.
Tyrell Malacia was the first signing made by Erik ten Hag for his United rebuild.
But why did the newly-appointed manager swoop for the Feyenoord man?
Here is what Ten Hag said about Malacia during his latest interview with MUFC media;
After almost two weeks on the training ground, Erik ten Hag will soon find out if his Manchester United’s players are capable of putting his plans into practice.
United, who arrived in Bangkok in the early-hours of Saturday morning, will face Liverpool on Tuesday in their first of six pre-season friendlies. It will mark the beginning of an audition period for many United players, most of whom will not necessarily be guaranteed a starting berth when the competitive action gets underway on August 7 against Brighton & Hove Albion.
As with any pre-season campaign, at any club anywhere in the world, United’s is set to feature a blend of youth and experience. It is a time where managers can get away with tinkering and chopping and changing without the consequences being too damaging.
Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma has chosen to stay at the club ‘for at least one more season’, according to a report by Goal.
The Dutchman, who joined the Spanish outfit from Bournemouth last summer, has been heavily linked with a return to England in recent months, including a move to Manchester United. He is a player that has been on United’s radar and someone that they were keeping a close eye on.
However, it is claimed that he will now stay in Spain. He has also been linked with both Newcastle United and West Ham United.
Brandon Williams has broken his silence on the reason why he is missing Manchester United’s pre-season tour.
The United squad boarded a plane to Thailand on Friday ahead of their first pre-season tour game against Liverpool on Tuesday.
Eight players have not travelled with the United squad for their tour. Most notably among the eight is Cristiano Ronaldo who has been given additional time off to deal with a ‘family issue’. MEN Sportunderstands that Williams missed out due to a ‘small issue’.
Erik ten Hag will soon take charge of a Manchester United match for the first time.
A 31-man United squad flew out from Manchester Airport bound for Thailand on Friday afternoon for the first leg of their pre-season tour where they will take on Liverpool. The squad that has been taken on tour is even weaker, however, than the one that concluded United’s worst-ever Premier League campaign with a defeat to Crystal Palace in May.
The rebuild that was heralded this summer has yet to come to pass, with left-back Tyrell Malacia the only signing so far, while Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata have all departed. Returning loanees Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial and James Garner are back in the fold, but it isn’t the revolution many fans have wanted.
According to Spanish journalist Manu Sainz, as cited by The Hard Tackle, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong would ‘prefer’ to join Manchester United over Chelsea this summer.
United registered their interest in the midfielder almost two months ago and are understood to have agreed a fee with Barcelona for his signature. However, the Spanish giants remain determined to keep hold of him.
Nevertheless, Chelsea have also reportedly entered the race for his signature. However, it is claimed that De Jong would be more open to the idea of being reunited with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Manchester United had hoped to have more than just one new signing at Manchester Airport on Friday afternoon, readied in club clothing to board the plane that departed for their pre-season tour.
Instead, it was just Tyrell Malacia who joined his new teammates, ready for an intense course in playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, after the left-back became the first signing of Erik ten Hag’s regime earlier in the week.
He will soon be joined by Christian Eriksen, with the Danish international expected to complete his United move at some point over the next week, and most likely be part of the Australia leg of their summer schedule.

Manchester United have made a new and improved bid for Ajax ace Lisandro Martinez, according to a report by the Mail.
They claim that United have now offered £43million to the Dutch giants, just a week after the club submitted a £37million offer.
Martinez is on the radar of both United and Arsenal and it remains to be seen which club will win his signature.
Manchester United have confirmed their squad for the first pre-season tour under new manager Erik ten Hag.
United will depart for their summer schedule from Manchester Airport on Friday afternoon ahead of their first match under Ten Hag next week.
Cristiano Ronaldo will not travel to Thailand with the rest of the United squad after he was granted additional time off to deal with a family issue that has prevented him from training this week.
Manchester United may look to hijack Ajax’s move for RB Leipzig striker Brian Brobbey as Erik ten Hag looks to improve his attacking options amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.
MEN Sport reported on Friday that United have altered their transfer plans due to Ronaldo’s desire to leave Old Trafford and, though two more defensive signings are still on the agenda, a new forward has now been prioritised once negotiations for the prospective deals for Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong have concluded.
It’s now understood that Ten Hag has made contact with young forward Brobbey and is keen on a reunion with his fellow Dutchman to reinforce the attacking areas. The 20-year-old currently plays for RB Leipzig but is free to leave this summer after failing to settle in Germany.
