Marco Asensio scored a great hat trick as Real Madrid reclaimed the top spot in La Liga with an emphatic win over Mallorca at the Bernabeu.

Asensio scored two goals in five minutes of the first half – on both sides of Lee Kang-ins’s well-received reaction for the visitors.

The Spaniard scored 4-1 10 minutes after half-time.

Karim Benzema had opened the lead after three minutes and added a late fifth place for Real before Isco triggered a 6-1 win six minutes from time.










Atletico Madrid rose to the top after beating Getafe 2-1 on Tuesday and are now two points behind Carlo Ancelotti’s side – both teams have been unbeaten in six games.

A slip by defender Josep Antoni Gaya Martinez gave the formally strong Benzema a perfect start for Real.

Asensio, who joined Real from Mallorca in 2015, doubled their lead when Vinicius Junior’s shortening was pushed in his way by the goalkeeper and then extended Real’s lead further by finishing for his second and third goals after a couple of Benzema assists.

Benzema scored eight goals and seven assists in La Liga this season with a deflected second goal of the evening before Vinicius brought in substitute Isco to top off an impressive performance by the hosts.
