Midfielder Maximo Perrone, 20, is close to being signed by Manchester City. The player, who competes in the South American Under-20 Championship with the Argentine national team, will sign with the English club until 2028, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
City must shell out around eight million euros (R$ 44 million) to Velez Sarsfield for Perrone. Coach Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the midfielder and even spoke directly with Javier Mascherano, coach of Argentina under-20, and played an important role in hiring Perrone.
Maximo Perrone plays as a defensive midfielder and joined Vélez Sarsfield’s first team in 2022. The Argentine has played 33 games for the team, with three goals scored and two assists. Left-handed, the youngster even faced Red Bull Bragantino in the last edition of the Copa Libertadores da América.
Manchester City has been negotiating with Perrone’s representatives since December and the player’s announcement should be made soon.
