James leads the team with 12 receptions for 94 yards and adds 32 yards on the run

Fox News Flash top headlines for September 26

New England Patriots star running back James White will not return for the second half of Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints after being taken off the pitch with a hip injury.

The eight-year veteran appeared to be in pain as players from both teams surrounded him as he was brought back to the locker room.

THE ONLY DOUBT THAT MAC JONES CAN’T ESCAPE DURING THE BEGINNING OF PROMISING PATRIOTS

White, 29, was tackled by Saints linebacker Demario Davis on the third down with just 12 minutes left in the second quarter. He landed awkwardly on his knees and seemed to grab his right hip in pain. He remained on his back and was assisted by training personnel before the wagon was called.

White was later ruled out with a hip injury.

If serious, White’s absence would be a major blow to the Patriots’ offensive line. He currently leads the team with 12 receptions for 94 yards and adds 32 yards runs.

According to ESPN, White entered the 2021 season with the most receptions, yards received and touchdowns received by a running back since 2015.

Mac Jones got off to a good start in his NFL career with the Patriots, but there is still one important question that plagues him and the team.

Jones has completed nearly 74% of his passes in two games, but he’s not exactly throwing the ball down the field. His average completion has run 3.1 yards past the scrimmage line, which is by far the lowest number of any quarterback with at least 50 passing attempts.

The Alabama product was asked about his tendency to dink and dunk earlier in the season, and Jones suggested it was the result of taking what the defense gave him.

“I think it’s just trial and error,” Jones said at a press conference on Wednesday. “I’m just trying to run the game properly and get it to first reading if it’s open. Stick to my readings. Replays will come. You can’t chase after plays that aren’t there or think they might be there. You can’t over-complicate it.

“There are definitely times when I watch the film and I would like to throw the ball more on the pitch. But at the same time I will continue to do what I do and take what they give me.”

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels also raised questions about the conservative passing play and the 45-year-old insisted that the entire playbook is open for his rookie quarterback.

“I completely trust him,” McDaniels said of Jones. “Believe me, we’re not holding back much for him.

“You want to be able to test those areas of the pitch as we move forward, but I also want him to make smart decisions, I want him to protect football and I want him to be aggressive when there are times to be aggressive.”

It is difficult to argue the results. The Patriots should theoretically be 2-0 if not for two brutal fumbles in the week 1 defeat to the Dolphins. Jones will have a chance to test the Saints’ battered secondary in week 3.

Johnny Nelson thinks Anthony Joshua should try to ‘out-bash’ Oleksandr Usyk

Chris Eubank Jr returns live on Sky Sports next Saturday, promoted by BOXXER

Johnny Nelson
Joshua has already surprised us. When he lost to Ruiz Jr everyone said: ‘Here, he’s done, he’s totally exposed’.

But he has the ability to think to come up with a game plan.

He has to come up with a completely different game plan here. He tried to beat a very good boxer.

He now he has to beat a very good boxer.

I’m trying to figure out what other option he has.

He has to start letting go of his right hand. Let it go as if it were a shot. There must be fluidity in his work in both hands.

He will look back on successes and what he neglected to do. He needs to be smart. Because he gave this guy too much space.

Tactically, he got the fight wrong. He tried to out-box the boxer.

He needed to be bullish in the beginning. Imposing the authority of him, use his size, power and explosiveness that make him Anthony Joshua.

But we haven’t seen it.

We said, ‘Don’t let Usyk get into the rhythm’ but that’s what we saw.

What did he learn from this? He cannot surpass Usyk who is supreme in that department. His boxing skills are incredible.

Joshua has to go back to old Anthony Joshua who beat Charles Martin and Dillian Whyte, who rolls the dice.

No. he is a career professional. He has been in the game long enough to know what to do, with or without his he coach.

This is not an excuse he will use.

It just wasn’t his night. You can’t win them all.

The only fighter I can think of who won them all was Floyd Mayweather!

Take your losses and come back stronger. That’s exactly what he will do.

It was an absolutely brilliant performance. Usyk outclassed Joshua, overtook him in maneuvers, out-boxed him and sometimes even beat him.

He was close to getting the break in the 12th round.

It was a massive statement. He is a brilliant fighter.

I said before the fight that I wouldn’t be surprised if Usyk won and stopped, and he almost did, because he has the talent and skill of him.

He has proven that he belongs up there with the best of them.
