Paul Gallen vs Darcy Lussick fight, result, video, cash bonus knockout, Harry Garside, Sam Goodman

Paul Gallen dominated the ring and then ended the fight night in the classiest way.

The former NRL hardman had just stopped Darcy Lussick in the third round, when he received an extra nice surprise.

No Limit promoter George Rose had promised a $20,000 cash bonus to the fighter who landed the most impressive knockout.

Unfortunately none of the fights ended by knockout, and the closest were a couple of technical knockouts.

Gallen’s was one of those, and so Rose handed him the wad of cash in the ring following the victory.

But rather than pocked it for himself, Gallen immediately handed it to up and coming Aussie boxers Sam Goodman and Harry Garside.

Both young fighters had won their respective bouts earlier on the card, but certainly hadn’t created as much fanfare as the two former NRL stars headlining the event.

Gallen seemed furious the first night of the event – which was on Tuesday – drew such littler public interest.

“A lot of people tonight copped a lot of flak, because footy players were fighting,” Gallen said.

“I watched last night, where the boxers were fighting, and about 100 people turned up to watch them. So where’s all these boxing people out there supporting boxers? I don’t see it.

“Sam Goodman and Harry Garside, come and see me in my shed, I’ll give you a bit of cash.”

If split evenly, the young fighters would pocketed $10,000 each from Gallen’s generous act.

Gallen was troubled by Lussick early in their bout, as the latter held a clear size advantage in the fight.

But Lussick soon tired and Gallen – the much more experienced fighter – dominated the second round as his opponent fell to the canvas twice.

The referee, and Lussick’s corner, bizarrely let it continue into the third until it was stopped.

“With all due respect, I wasn’t concerned,” Gallen said.

“At the start of the second round we had a big fight but not a single punch landed. I was letting him wear himself out a bit.

“He’s a tough dude, and I can’t thank him enough for stepping in. thankyou to Darcy for having huge balls.”
