Predicted lineup Liverpool vs Chelsea FA Cup final today – Sport Media News

Today’s FA Cup final will see Liverpool take on Chelsea at Wembley without first-choice midfielder Fabinho.

The Brazilian was forced off after half an hour in the Reds’ win over Aston Villa, suffering a hamstring injury that Jurgen Klopp has confirmed will keep him out of this weekend’s final.

Klopp has at least confirmed that Fabinho will be fit in time for the Champions League final later this month, but for now it appears Jordan Henderson is the most likely to play as the deepest of the three midfielders.

“We can cope, having him or not having him is a difference but it is all fine,” Klopp said on Thursday.

“That’s normal stuff that happens. It’s never in a position where you have 12 options, it’s always in a position where you [don’t].

“We have a few players. Hendo came on and played incredible [against Villa], he has played super games this season at number six so that is not a problem.”

Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah didn’t start at Villa Park but should come back into the side, with Klopp’s two big decisions coming at centre-back and up front.

Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate are competing to partner Virgil van Dijk in defence, with Konate potentially getting the nod as he appears more suited to deal with the threat of Romelu Lukaku.

Luis Diaz is likely to start alongside Salah and Sadio Mane in the front three, which would leave Diogo Jota having to settle for a place on the bench.

Predicted Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Thiago, Keita; Salah, Mane, Diaz

Former Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is set to be dropped by the Netherlands national team.

The Reds allowed the midfielder to leave Anfield as a free agent last summer, where he linked up with Paris Saint-Germain. The 31-year-old spent five years at Anfield, during which time he scored 22 goals in 237 appearances.

However, since his move to Paris, Wijnaldum has not enjoyed as much success as he would have envisaged. Apart from helping PSG win the Ligue 2 title, from a personal perspective he has been restricted to 36 appearances and just three goals.

Wijnaldum has had just one start in PSG’s last seven matches. It’s this lack of regular action that has apparently led to him being dropped by Netherlands boss Louis Van Gaal for the Nations League matches against Belgium, Wales and Poland next month.

The former Manchester United manager says dropping the ex-Liverpool midfielder is a “difficult” decision.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

Reports from90minare claiming that Liverpool are monitoring Nketiah’s situation with the Gunners.

Chelsea are also being credited with an interest in the striker, who is set to be a free agent at the end of the season, with West Ham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Everton all also being linked.

Nketiah’s future has been the subject of plenty of debate at the Emirates, with no decision being made.

His contract expires in a few weeks, and there is growing expectation that he will depart as a free agent when the season concludes.

The report adds that Liverpool are aware of Nketiah’s situation with the Gunners, and are monitoring the situation.

It has been claimed that the Reds see Nketiah as a more than capable squad option, if not a regular starter.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has revealed Robert Lewandowski will not be allowed to leave the club this summer.

The 33-year-old has been with the German champions since 2014 and has scored 343 goals for the club in all competitions. However, he has been linked with a move away in recent months.

A recent report from Spain claimed that Lewandowski was a ‘priority’ for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp ahead of the summer window. While another recent report from Poland claimed that Lewandowski will complete a switch to Barcelona after discussions have been taking place.

Lewandowski has helped Bayern to eight Bundesliga titles in the last eight seasons, as well as three German cups. Oliver Kahn, Bayern’s chief executive, told Amazon Prime last month that Lewandowski would not be leaving the Allianz Arena this summer.

Gary Neville has insisted that the Premier League title race is not over for Liverpool despite Manchester City having the advantage.

The Reds are three points behind Man City with just two matches left to play. Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-1 in midweek, but City responded 24 hours later with a 5-1 win at Wolves.

Liverpool are in FA Cup action against Chelsea this weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s side face Chelsea in the final of the prestigious competition, while Man City play West Ham in the Premier League.

Should Man City win against the Hammers, they would be six points ahead of Liverpool who would have two matches left to play. The goal difference between the two sides is seven in favour of City, which would of course increase further should they beat West Ham.

Neville has explained why the injury to Fabinho could be a “real problem” for Liverpool. It has been confirmed that the Brazilian will miss the cup final against Chelsea, but is in line to return by the Champions League final against Real Madrid later this month.

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has responded to a message from NBA icon LeBron James.

Alexander-Arnold has been in fine form for the Reds this season, as the club strive to win silverware. The right-back has made 44 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring two goals but providing 19 assists for his team-mates.

That form has seen Alexander-Arnold nominated for two prestigious awards. The 23-year-old has been nominated for both the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards.

Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has reserved special praise for Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min.

The Spurs forward is currently battling with Reds star Mohamed Salah for the Premier League Golden Boot award. Salah leads the way with 22 goals while Son is just behind with 21 this term.

Liverpool recently saw first hand Son’s qualities, after he scored in the 1-1 draw at Anfield in the league last week. Luis Diaz’s deflected strike in the second half earned a point for the Reds.

Son was on the scoresheet again after Tottenham beat North London rivals Arsenal 3-0 in the league. Harry Kane netted the other two strikes, and former Liverpool striker Sturridge has hailed Son for his recent form.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed details of a conversation with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin where the Liverpool manager called for more affordable tickets for the Champions League final.

And the Reds boss also explained why he branded the Nations League as “one of the most ridiculous ideas in the world of football” to the chief of the European game earlier this week.

The pricing structure for the Champions League final in Paris on May 28 came under fire this month by many who view the fees as extortionate. At a time when there is a cost of living crisis in the United Kingdom, the cheapest ticket for fans starts at £125 with over one fifth of Liverpool’s 19,618-allocation ranging between £410 and £578 for the Stade de France showpiece.

Speaking at a conference in Vienna this week, Ceferin said: “For us, not much will change if all tickets are 10 euros but it will change a lot for the clubs. It’s the system that works, and clubs couldn’t function differently. I explained the same thing to one of the coaches of the two teams a couple of days ago.”

Klopp has now detailed how it was he who was contacted by Ceferin as he opened up on a text message exchange with the UEFA official where he made his feelings known.

Jurgen Klopp says he wouldn’t swap his Liverpool job for any other as he revealed turning down several approaches from Bayern Munich to remain at Anfield.

Klopp, who has been in charge of the Reds since October 2015, last month put pen to paper on a new contract that extends his commitment to the club to 2026.

The Liverpool boss will lead his team out at Wembley on Saturday as they aim to complete a domestic cup final double against Chelsea in the FA Cup final. Despite still being in the running for an unprecedented quadruple, there is still a chance the Reds will have only the League Cup to show for a campaign that has so far seen them lose just three times in 59 games.

Klopp, though, doesn’t believe he would be better served managing elsewhere, and confirmed he has been approached on more than one occasion by Bayern during his time at Anfield.

Chelsea striker Timo Werner has fired a warning towards Liverpool ahead of the FA Cup final tomorrow and said that the Reds ‘have always had problems against us’

Liverpool head to Wembley in search of their eighth FA Cup victory as they continue their quest for an unprecedented quadruple. Chelsea are in their third successive final in the competition having lost to Leicester and Arsenal in 2021 and 2020 respectively.

Despite being 16 points clear in the league, it won’t be easy for Liverpool with the Reds having not beaten Chelsea in normal time this season on three separate occasions. In both Premier League games they drew – 1-1 against a 10-man Chelsea at Anfield and 2-2 at Stamford Bridge. Similarly, the Carabao Cup final was anything but your classic 0-0. Chelsea had three goals ruled out for offside while Liverpool had one before Kepa Arrizabalaga’s missed penalty handed the Reds an 11-10 spot kick victory.

Werner has scored 11 goals in 37 appearances this season and was heavily linked with Liverpool before his £53m move to Chelsea in 2020. He believes that Chelsea will be able to upset the odds on Saturday, as they did last season when they beat Manchester City in the Champions League final.
