According to the 25-year-old, he lost control of the vehicle because he dozed asleep behind the wheel, said Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar.
At the time of the collision, Rishabh Pant was the only one in the vehicle, and he shattered the car window to get out.
SP Dehat Swapan Kishore later confirmed the news stating: “Cricketer Rishabh Pant’s car met with an accident between Manglaur and Narsan in Haridwar district. He has been shifted to Max Hospital Dehradun after giving primary treatment at Roorkee Civil Hospital. Accident took place on NH-58 of Manglaur PS area.”
According to eyewitnesses, Rishabh’s car collided with the railing, after which the car caught fire. The fire was brought under control with great difficulty. Pant, who was seriously injured in the accident, was then admitted to Roorkee Civil Hospital for primary treatment.
He has been now shifted to Max Hospital Dehradun.
According to Dr Sushil Nagar who led the emergency treatment, Pant has lacerative wounds on his forehead, one right above the left eye; there is a ligament tear in his knee; and abrasions on his back. However, the first X-rays suggest there is no fracture and there are no burns on Pant’s body despite his car catching fire.
Passerbys were quick to help the Indian cricketer. In a video, Pant’s face was all bloodied after the accident as his car burnt to ashes in front of him.
Praying for #RishabhPant’s speedy recovery. Get well soon, champ!
