Vikings request interview with Eagles VP Catherine Raiche

Minnesota Vikings, NFL, Philadelphia Eagles

Catherine Raiche has a chance to do something in the NFL that hasn’t been done in 39 years.

The Vikings fired both head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman on Monday.

Per The Athletic, the Vikings’ ask is believed to be the first GM interview request for a woman in NFL history.

“If hired, Raîche would follow in the footsteps of Susan Tose Spencer, who became the first and only female GM in NFL history when she was hired as the Eagles general manager in 1983,” a Thursday morning report from The Athletic read. “She was Philadelphia’s GM from 1983 to 85 after being promoted by her father, owner Leonard Tose.”

When Raiche was promoted to the position of vice president of football operations in May 2021, she became the highest-ranked woman in personnel in NFL history. The Montreal, Quebec, native was the Eagles football operations/player personnel coordinator for two seasons before being promoted to her current position.
