Mykhailo Mudryk: Chelsea sign winger for £88.5m from Shakhtar Donetsk

Mykhailo Mudryk previously stated his desire to join Arsenal but only Chelsea matched the £88.5m asking price; The 22-year-old has signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract with the Blues.

Chelsea have signed winger Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88.5m.

Mudryk previously identified Premier League leaders Arsenal as his preferred destination in a series of social media posts. Arsenal remained in talks last Friday. But is ready to walk away from the move if the deal is invalid.

But Chelsea agreed terms with Shakhtar on Saturday night and the 22-year-old traveled to west London for a medical before signing an eight-and-a-half-year contract.

“I am very happy to have signed for Chelsea,” said Mudrik.

“This is a great club in a great league. And it’s a very interesting project for me in my career. I’m excited to meet my new teammates. And I look forward to working and learning under Graham” Potter and his team.”

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali said: “We are delighted to welcome Mykhailo to Chelsea. He is a very exciting talent who we believe will be a great addition to the Chelsea squad. us now and in the years to come, he will add depth to our attacks. And we know he will be warmly welcomed to London.”

Maddric became Chelsea’s fifth signing in the January transfer window, following Joao Felix, Benoit Badiachile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey. Santos
