Co-Players of the Week: Ole Miss’ Angel Baker scored a season-high 24 points coming off the bench against Texas Tech, which tied the most points scored by a Rebel in a game this season. She was the second leading scorer for Ole Miss in the 61-53 victory against No. 18 South Florida. It was the Rebels first win against a ranked non-conference opponent since 2007. On the week, she went 16-of-26 (.615), scoring 14.5 ppg with 2.5 rpg and 1.5 spg.
South Carolina’s Destanni Henderson returned to the court after missing the last three games with a left leg injury and played 31 minutes. She pulled the team together in the second half after trailing by as many as 18 in the first to launch the biggest comeback in program history. Henderson led the team to out-score Stanford 22-7 in the third quarter, swiping five of her career-high seven steals in the period and dishing out four of her seven assists in that 10 minutes as well to give Gamecocks the lead. She added seven of her 17 points in the fourth quarter, including scoring each time Stanford took the lead in the period. Committed just two turnovers in 31 minutes on the court.
Freshman of the Week: Georgia’s Jillian Hollingshead posted the first double-figure scoring game of her career with 12 points in 15 minutes of action against South Alabama. Hollingshead was perfect on the day, knocking in 4-for-4 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. The Powder Springs, Ga., native scored eight of her 12 points in the fourth quarter as she went a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor in the final 10 minutes. Her performance helped Georgia secure an 11-1 record in non-conference action and gave the team its 19th win in the last 23 contests dating back to last year.
