Chris Wood becomes Nottingham’s 24th signing. Forest this season After joining on loan from Newcastle

The 31-year-old will spend the remainder of the campaign at the City Ground and the move will be permanent until the summer of 2024, subject to certain conditions.

He left St James’ Park after 12 months in a £25m (€28.5m) move from Burnley and played a key role in Newcastle’s survival.

But he has fallen respectively behind Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak and will be in regular operation under Steve Cooper at Forest after Taiwo Awoniyi suffered a long-term injury.

“It’s a great feeling. And I’m very grateful to be here,” said the New Zealand international.

“Nottingham Forest is a big club that I have come across many times. But now it’s good to be able to wear the red shirt and fight for the club.”

“You can see the changes in the last 18 months and it’s moving in the right direction. It is a project that is moving in the right direction.

“It’s a club that looks more than anything else. It takes a lot of hard work. But it’s a team that pulls together.

“I’ve been in this league for a long time. So hopefully I can bring a lot of experience to help you guys. and bring everyone together.”

“He’s a huge player for us,” Howe said.

“It was a difficult decision. Considering the player and his desires. But I think it is a good financial deal for the football club.”

Ings joins the Hammers for an undisclosed fee. which is understood to be around £12m (€13.7m) until the summer of 2025.

The 30-year-old is eligible for an immediate debut at home to Everton on Saturday.

“I am very excited to join West Ham United,” Ings said.

“It was very important for me to adapt as quickly as I could. and doing important things on the pitch for West Ham.

“I’m really looking forward to the start.”

Manager David Moyes had previously said he would not move too much in the January transfer window. But only after his shy side slipped into the relegation zone.

“I’m delighted to have Danny join the team,” he said. “He is a proven Premier League goalscorer and will add great competition for the role in the attacking trio.”
